DALLAS — After eight years as women’s fashion director at J.C. Penney Co., Lucille Klein resigned last week and started a consulting firm specializing in apparel and textiles.
Penney’s is seeking a successor, a company spokeswoman said.
“I thoroughly enjoyed being at Penney’s and it was a wonderful part of my career, but I’m looking forward to doing something new,” said Klein, 61. “I love working and I love this industry.”
Before joining Penney’s, Klein worked as fashion director for Sanger Harris for nine years and then spent 17 years at Monsanto, where her responsibilities included creating marketing programs for proprietary fabrics.
At her new company, Lucille Klein Consulting, Klein said she will offer fashion forecasting services, training programs, wardrobe seminars, product development and public relations.
