KAYSER-ROTH NAMES RICOY PRESIDENT, CEO
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Martin Ricoy has been named president and chief executive officer of Kayser-Roth Corp.
He succeeds Gary Malloch, who resigned Friday.
The 52-year-old Malloch, who left “for personal reasons,” according to a spokesman for the firm, could not be reached for comment Monday.
Malloch had been president and ceo since August 1994. In early 1994, he had been promoted from president of the sheer hosiery division to president and chief operating officer, after the firm had been acquired by Legwear Holdings Corp., a holding company controlled by Mexican hosiery producer Grupo Synkro SA de CA and a group of individual Mexican investors.
Ricoy, 47, was deputy chairman of Kayser-Roth for the past two years. He has been associated with Kayser-Roth since early 1994, when he participated in carrying out a strategic plan to expand and globalize the core businesses of Grupo Synkro.
Ricoy joined the Mexico City-based Synkro in September 1990 as managing director of its largest subsidiary, Industrias Cannon SA de CV. In 1992, he became senior vice president of Synkro’s operations, with overall responsibility for operating results of its businesses in Mexico.
Kayser-Roth, the second largest U.S. hosiery maker behind Sara Lee Corp., claims to have a 13 percent share of the U.S. market through its mass No Nonsense brand. It also makes private label and four licensed lines — Calvin Klein, Hue, Burlington and Timberland.
