PARIS — Hermes International said sales rose 7.7 percent in the first nine months of 1996, reaching $549.7 million (2.8 billion francs) at current exchange.
A year earlier, nine-month sales came to 2.6 billion francs.
Hermes further noted that at constant exchange rates and with an unchanged company structure, sales would have risen 8.6 percent for the nine months.
The firm saw particularly strong growth in Japan and Hong Kong during the most recent nine months, said Mirelle Maury, financial director, who added that Hermes ready-to-wear and perfumes posted significant gains. The firm did not report profits for the period. Profits are usually reported for the first half and full year.
