CIRCLE SAYS BARNEYS, PRESSMANS OWE MAD.61 FOR MEALS AND TIPS
NEW YORK — Is eating well really the best revenge?
Barneys and members of the Pressman family still owe Pino Luongo’s Circle Management $91,000 for personal use of the former Mad.61 restaurant, according to court papers.
Also unpaid are $8,000 in tips owed to Circle waiters who were listed on the credit card receipts, as well as various third-party vendor bills.
In another development, Circle Management’s request that Barneys pay it $507,000 for operating expenses was denied pending a trial in bankruptcy court. In that trial, Barneys will argue that Circle withheld cash receipts owed to the retailer.
Barneys’ counsel previously told the court that, since the bankruptcy, only liquor vendors were paid — about $25,000 — so that Barneys could keep its liquor license.
Barneys has since reopened its restaurant under new management and a new name, Fred’s at Barneys New York.
