CALVIN KLEIN EXTENDS REACH INTO KOREA
NEW YORK — Calvin Klein Inc. has expanded its global reach yet again.
The company has signed a distribution agreement for Korea for its Calvin Klein Collection and CK Calvin Klein women’s and men’s apparel.
The agreement is with Shinsegae International Co., a division of Shinsegae Department Store Group. The deal allows Shinsegae to open freestanding Collection and CK stores starting this fall. Shinsegae will also carry the lines in its own stores and sell it to other Korean retailers.
Shinsegae is a 30-year-old retailer and distributor whose business includes stores, hotels, mail order, wholesale warehouse clubs, credit cards, fashion and product design and finance and investment.
Over the last year, Calvin Klein has been aggressively building its international business, including a manufacturing and distribution deal with Stefanel SpA for Europe, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Recent licenses include Rifle for CK Jeanswear in Europe and Nine West for CK women’s and men’s footwear and accessories.
