CFDA MENU MAY BE A LA TARP
NEW YORK — The Council of Fashion Designers of America’s annual awards dinner may be served under canvas.
A spokesman for Keeble, Cavaco & Duka, which produces the gala, said the CFDA is negotiating to hold the pre-awards dinner in a tent in the vicinity of the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, where the awards themselves will be presented. The exact location has not yet been determined.
“The dinner is already sold out,” he said. “We’ve sold 1,200 tickets — we sold about 1,000 last year — and the promenade inside the theater can’t accommodate that many people.”
Awardees at the event, which is slated for Feb. 12, will include Ralph Lauren, the 1995 Women’s Designer of the Year; Tommy Hilfiger, Men’s Wear Designer of the Year, and Hubert de Givenchy, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Lifetime of Style award will go to Lauren Bacall.
