HOUSTON — In a departure from this city’s love affair with bouffant ballgowns, slim columns were the order of the night at the Houston Ballet Ball last month.
The ladies favored elegant slim dresses with bare shoulders and just a touch of embellishment. Glittering jewels finished the look.
The $1,000-a-plate gala held in the prairie-sized lobby of the Wortham Theater is always a highlight of the social season. This year’s ball drew about 430 people and netted $450,000 for the ballet — exceeding last year’s take by $10,000.
Here, a look at the style of the ballet patrons and two of the company’s ballerinas — Tiekka Schofield and Dawn Scannel.
