NEW YORK — The Mills Corp. said Tuesday it has received commitments for its Meadowlands Mills project from several retailers, including Off 5th-Saks Fifth Avenue.
Meadowlands Mills is a 2.1 million-square-foot super-regional value and entertainment center that is proposed for a tract of land adjacent to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey.
“We have enjoyed a special relationship with The Mills Corp. since 1992 when the first Off 5th-Saks Fifth Avenue outlet opened at Franklin Mills,” said Ronald Covin, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of Off 5th. “Mills Corp. has been a terrific partner.”
The center will have up to 20 anchor stores and 200 specialty retailers.
In addition to Off 5th, Sports Authority, Burlington Coat Factory, Bed Bath & Beyond and T.J. Maxx have agreed to open stores at Meadowlands Mills, the developer said. Those companies could not immediately be reached for comment.
The entertainment component of the center will be filled by the Rainforest Cafe, Virgin Entertainment and DeBartolo Entertainment, whose chairman is Edward J. DeBartolo Jr., chairman of the San Francisco 49ers and a director of the Simon DeBartolo retail estate group.
