NEW FASHION AWARDS SET BY STYLEWORKS
NEW YORK — A new set of fashion awards — “Great Style” — is being inaugurated by the StyleWorks trade show. They will be presented at a benefit party to be held Jan. 7 during the show’s January market at the Hotel Inter-Continental.
A panel of editors will judge samples submitted from the show’s exhibitors. Awards will be presented in the following categories: best contemporary sportswear designer, best contemporary dress designer, glamour award for eveningwear and best first impression award for young designer/bridge and contemporary.
The awards evening will also include a raffle, with proceeds going to Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association. Top prize will be a weekend trip to St. Lucia in the Virgin Islands.
The awards party is the latest addition for a show that started in May 1994 with some 120 lines and now counts over 400 for its upcoming seventh edition, Jan. 7-9. The show has five editions in the works for 1996, reflecting more frequent ordering by buyers.
Among the show’s features is the Saturday starts it schedules for its February and September shows, accommodating buyers who need an extra day to shop during these particularly hectic trade show periods. It also offers complimentary shuttle bus service to other major show events.
StyleWorks’ categories include contemporary through young designer collections, items, gifts and accessories.
