MODA DOWNLOAD: Internet users can now access key information about Italy’s fashion industry and swap news with the country’s textile and clothing manufacturers using a new data bank called DAFNE, an acronym for Data Fashion Network.
DAFNE users can access information on firms ranging from textile and apparel companies to yarn manufacturers. The service also has billboards with advertisements, employment opportunities, trade show calendars and statistics on the industry. DAFNE will also publish reviews of fashion shows and trade fairs.
“Ideally, this service will allow retailers around the world to be in constant contact with their suppliers in Italy and give them an opportunity to seek new partnerships,” said Grazia Billio, who designed the service. While Billio said the data bank isn’t yet complete, it has been up and running on the World Wide Web since the beginning of December. The annual base subscription price is $1,125 (1.8 million lire), and the address is http:wwwdafne.it.
