WARNER BROS. LICENSING UNIT INKS DEAL WITH PRO ATHLETES
NEW YORK — Warner Bros. Consumer Products has created a licensing division to develop and market products carrying the names and numbers of professional athletes.
In an agreement with Falk Associates Management Enterprises, a Washington-based agency that represents 35 pro athletes, Warner Bros. Sports Licensing has acquired the worldwide rights to produce licensed products for six professional basketball players: Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, Juwan Howard of the Washington Bullets, Bryant Reeves of the Vancouver Grizzlies, Bobby Hurley of the Sacramento Kings, and Glen Rice and Tyrone (Muggsy) Bogues, both of the Charlotte Hornets.
Michael Peikoff, vice president of property development for Warner Bros. Consumer Products, who will head the new division, said the company aims to develop licensing agreements with other agencies that represent male and female professional athletes.
