LIN TAKES LAUREN POST AT JONES
NEW YORK — Benny Lin, former fashion director for Macy’s East, has been named creative director for the new Lauren by Ralph Lauren better-price apparel line, which is licensed to Jones Apparel Group.
Lin, who left Macy’s last December, said he took the last year off to travel and pursue independent projects.
In the new post, Lin reports to Jacki Nemerov, president of the casual sportswear divisions of Jones Apparel Group. His responsibilities will include overseeing in-store shop concepts and coordinating with Ralph Lauren’s creative merchandising team.
The new line will be launched for fall 1996 as part of Lauren’s big push to build his women’s division. That strategy started after the designer reacquired his women’s wear license from Bidermann Industries USA this year.
