NEW YORK — Due to its merger with Macy’s, Federated Department Stores’ corporate offices in the Cincinnati area will be beefed up with 250 positions.
There will be 50 positions added at Federated’s headquarters in downtown Cincinnati, bringing the total complement there to 450, the company said Monday. Hirings will be in accounting, tax, internal audit, cost control, treasury and planning, risk management, law and human resources functions. Macy’s East’s accounts payable function in Atlanta is being folded into Federated’s central accounts payable in Sharonville, Ohio, adding about 100 positions.
As many as 100 posts are being added at Federated’s financial and credit services group in Mason, Ohio, bringing the total there to 300. The new posts are needed to handle benefits processing and payroll for Macy’s.
Federated said a majority of the new positions are being filled from the Cincinnati-area work force and Lazarus employees whose positions are being eliminated due to the consolidation of Lazarus’ central office into those of Rich’s in Atlanta, announced last month. The Lazarus central office employed about 700 workers.
Federated officials said that it previously consolidated its corporate support functions, but that the Macy’s merger is requiring a larger work force.
Additionally, David W. Clark has been named vice president, executive and organizational development, diversity management and training, a new position at Federated, effective Wednesday.
Clark, 42, had been senior vice president for human resources at Federated’s Lazarus department store division in Cincinnati since July 1988. He reports to Thomas G. Cody, executive vice president, legal and human resources.
