NEW YORK — Eveningwear designer Jackie Rogers is waking up to daytime dresses.
Rogers, who has been selling her sexy nighttime creations to select specialty stores for 15 years, has opened Sensual Dressing by Jackie Rogers, a secondary line that bowed for summer/transition.
The 12-piece dress collection, wholesaling for $98 to $150, features many looks adapted from Rogers’ signature ready-to-wear collection. The initial line uses white cotton and Lycra spandex knit done in navy, red, black and white.
“My customers kept asking for my signature dresses in daytime fabrics, and that’s why I’m doing them,” Rogers said. “They’re modern, pull-on, with no zippers, and they’re all cut on the bias, so they have great shape.”
The new line will be sold through the Hunter Garces showroom at 525 Seventh Avenue. Renee Hunter, showroom manager, said she expects to do $80,000 in sales the first season by targeting volume and specialty stores.
“We have gotten a nice reaction from the stores we’ve shown it to so far,” said Hunter, who also represents such rtw lines as Jimmy Gamba, Roland Nivelais, Heidi Kirkland, Paul Irina, Elena Simeonova and John Sher.
