NEW YORK — Andrew S. Hochberg has been named president of Sportmart Inc., a sporting goods chain based in Niles, Ill. It is a new post.
Hochberg’s father, Larry J. Hochberg, who founded the company in 1971, is chairman and chief executive officer.
Sportmart operates 55 sporting goods superstores under the Sportmart name and four No Contest athletic footwear and apparel superstores. The company has stores in Chicago, California, Seattle, Minneapolis, Portland, Ore., Columbus, Ohio, and Toronto.
Since joining Sportmart in 1987, Hochberg has served in a variety of roles, most recently as executive vice president, responsible for finance, MIS, human resources, legal and real estate. Earlier, he was director of real estate. He has been a director of the company since 1986.
The company is expected to report its results today for fiscal 1994. For fiscal 1993, Sportmart reported sales of $338.4 million.
