ROSEANNE EXITS SLATE AT CFDA
NEW YORK — Princess Di is still coming, but Roseanne isn’t. And Demi Moore is waiting in the wings.
Roseanne, who was supposed to present the “Excellence in Makeup Artistry” award to Kevyn Aucoin at the CFDA gala on Jan. 30, canceled after doctors ordered her to bed, due to a difficult pregnancy. The CFDA — and Aucoin — are scrambling trying to find a replacement.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Moore is in discussions about presenting the designer of the year award to Richard Tyler. The actress was approached after Julia Roberts and Janet Jackson declined due to professional commitments.
As for Di, who’ll probably upstage anyone from Hollywood anyway, word has it she may even wear an American designer. That would probably subject her to persecution in the British press, unless, of course, she wears Tyler. Though he’s in the process of being naturalized, Tyler is still an Australian and, as such, a member of the British Commonwealth.
The CFDA said Wednesday that TV news personality Dianne Sawyer has joined the presenter’s list. Sawyer will present the three Lifetime Achievement Awards to Bernadine Morris, Carrie Donovan and Nonnie Moore. The fashion journalists all retired during 1994, Morris and Donovan from the New York Times and Moore from GQ.
Other presenters include Karl Lagerfeld, Mariah Carey and Grace Mirabella.
In addition, the CFDA said that tickets for the dinner that precedes the annual awards gala, which is set for Jan. 30 at Lincoln Center, are sold out. Tickets are still available, however, for the awards and dessert party that follows. Those tickets sell for $150 to $300.
