GATTERDAM TO ESCADA: Diane Gatterdam has been named to the new post of associate creative visual director at Escada USA Inc.
She will be responsible for point-of-sale image concepts in retail stores for each of Escada’s divisions: Escada Margaretha Ley, Couture, Sport and Development, as well as the Laurèl, Nic Janik and Apriori divisions. She will report to Jaimee Marshall, vice president of marketing. Gatterdam had been at I. Magnin for 17 years, most recently as vice president of visual merchandising.

EILEEN FISHER’S RETAIL ROOM: Eileen Fisher is taking customer service to a new level by opening a retail showroom on the second floor of one of her four New York stores, a unit at 1039 Madison Ave. between East 79th and 80th Streets.
Customers will be able to preview Eileen Fisher collections before they are delivered to the stores, just as buyers do, and will be able to order specific items. The showroom will open March 2 with a presentation of the spring collection. It will then be open every Thursday at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Customers can walk in or make an appointment in advance.

DOWNTOWN DESIGNERS’ BALL: Alternative Fashion Week will present the Designers & Models Spring Ball March 29 at Webster Hall, 125 East 11th St. in New York. The ball benefits Housing Works and will feature a fashion show with 100 designs. Each designer will provide his or her favorite outfit and celebrity model for the runway. The outfits will be photographed prior to the event, incorporated into a presentation catalog, then sold at a silent auction.
Participating designers and lines include Lola Faturoti, Cynthia Rowley, Jeanette Kastenberg, Finis, Patricia Field, Cesar Galindo, Kanae & Onyx, Dom Casual, Necessary Objects, Living Doll, Abbijane, Frank Fleming, Alpana Bawa, Tatiana von Furstenberg, Corrugated and Kitty Boots.

MOVES AT MAC: Manifatture Associate Cashmere (MAC) USA has named Georgia Dan-Bergman to the new post of director of sales and merchandising for the Malo women’s division. Previously, Dan-Bergman was national sales director for MAC’s Saverio Palatella collection.
MAC also promoted Karen Katzman to national sales director for the Saverio Palatella collection. She was a sales associate for the Malo men’s and women’s collections. Both Dan-Bergman and Katzman report to Luigi Leonardi, MAC’s executive vice president.
