Getting a glimpse of Princess Diana was the main agenda of many who attended the CFDA Awards at Lincoln Center Monday night. But that wasn’t the only place Di made an appearance in New York. Wearing a hot pink jacket and black skirt, she attended a lunch hosted by Veronica and Randy Hearst in the afternoon. Diana was seated between Karl Lagerfeld and Ralph Lauren. Other guests included Bill Blass, Peter Martins, Gilles Dufour, Flavia Biancheri, Ricky Lauren and Charlie Rose. One visitor observed there were practically more bodyguards than diners. Nonetheless, Diana was sweet and charming, he noted. When it was time for her to leave, Diana stepped out of the Hearsts’ building, undaunted by the throng of paparazzi, smiled and hopped into the backseat of a forest green Range Rover that carried her away.
