WILD AND WOODY
It was dinner and a diva for 80 people at New York’s Cafe Carlyle the other night, as Eartha Kitt began her annual Manhattan engagement there.
Tucked away in the banquettes, amid such folks as Mira Sorvino, model Carmen, MTV’s Idalis and Ashley Richardson, were Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, in town to film “Money Train,” their first pairing since “White Men Can’t Jump.” The two start filming later this month and will be in town through April. While neither actor is known for keeping a particularly low profile, Harrelson said he’s looking forward to getting some downtime while in New York.
“I’m here by myself,” he said. “I need some time alone — I haven’t had that in a while, because I’ve been with my family. I’ve rented an apartment in the Village.” Harrelson was referring to his girlfriend, Laura Louie, and their two-year-old daughter, Denni. He confessed that though fatherhood is wonderful, it was something the former Hollywood wild man had to grow into.
“I was scared before the baby was born — and for a long time after,” he admitted. “But I’m getting used to it.”
