The Four Seasons is changing its menu — at least for one night. On April 6, Gault Millau Chef of the Year Andre Jaeger will make his only working visit in the U.S. there. The Swiss chef will prepare his favorite Euro-Asian dishes, accompanied by some of his own wines. Forget about calling for a reservation; the dinner is by invitation only, and the list is short — only 90 people. But there’s no such thing as a free dinner. This one will cost each diner $250.
Not everyone is fighting to get into the Fashion Cafe. Azzedine Alaia rejected a request to donate a robe to the restaurant, which is being heavily promoted by megamodels Cindy Crawford, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Campbell. “One of their assistants came to see me and said everyone was in the cafe, and I would have to be, too,” Alaia said. “Putting dresses in display cases seems pretty strange to me. I wouldn’t do it even if they paid me royalties.”
