DOG DAY AFTERNOONS: Anyone who doesn’t think the supermodels are worth their weight in gold hasn’t been to the Seventh Avenue collections. The shows are nothing but a big blah. These plain clothes need a Nadja and a Claudia and a Linda and a Kate—not to mention a Naomi and a Shalom—to make them come alive. Sure there are Helena and Niki and Meghan, but most of the big girls are staying away because the New York designers refuse to pay their going rates. And many of the mannequins the designers are getting for their cheapskate fees aren’t worth a penny more — if you get our drift.
