NEW YORK — Once the domain of European houses, “prefall” suddenly has American designers all fired up. Retailers are delighted and say it’s a great way to get early direction now and added clout later with an extended selling season. In his prefall presentation Monday, Isaac Mizrahi showed a strong, savvy collection that covered several key points: jacket dresses; below-the-knee lengths and fuller skirts, either dirndl or bias; sporty knee-length coats and skinny pants.
