NORDSTROM CONFIRMS ARIZONA PLANS
NEW YORK — Nordstrom Inc. said Wednesday it plans to open its first store in Arizona by spring 1998 in Scottsdale.
Nordstrom, site-developer Westcor and the city of Scottsdale issued a joint statement, confirming a WWD report on Tuesday.
The statement said a 225,000-square-foot Nordstrom unit will be in a project under development called Downtown Waterfront. The complex will be connected to the Scottsdale Fashion Square, also developed by Westcor, via a multi-level pedestrian bridge over Camelback Road. Fashion Square is anchored by Dillard’s and Robinson’s/May.
“We’ve had an interest in the Arizona market for years,” Bruce Nordstrom, co-chairman, said in the statement.
