NEW YORK — Jamesway Corp. will unveil a new “prototype” format at five locations today.
The remodeled discount stores, the first of 25 planned for this year, have wider-than-usual aisles, clear sight lines to major wall displays and improved fixtures, Jamesway said. The prototypes are in Newton, Sussex and Ocean View, N.J., and Allentown and Trexlertown, Pa., and feature expanded selections in every department and more brands, the company said.
In addition, the 90-unit discount chain, which emerged from Chapter 11 last January, has instituted a new three-tier pricing program. The program involves weekly discounts of 45 to 70 percent off on certain items, price cuts on other items at mid-season for a period of 30-60 days and everyday low prices on other items.
