G-III GETS HI-TEC: The G-III Apparel Group has signed a three-year licensing deal with Hi-Tec Sports USA to produce a line of unisex outerwear under Hi-Tec’s three brands. Hi-Tec, based in Modesto, Calif., is known for its rugged outdoor footwear.
G-III, a diversified women’s and men’s outerwear maker, will produce and market 50 Peaks, a technical performance line featuring waterproof and breathable shells retailing for $99 to $150; Hi-Tec, a collection of outerwear inspired by outdoor activity and retailing for $99 to $125, and Magnum, a group of street-inspired looks for $70 to $90. The company declined to give a sales projection for the new division.
The licensed division will be operated by management from the company’s JL Colebrook men’s and G-III men’s textile division. This includes division head Robert Pao, national sales manager Peter Tennenbaum, designer Dionne McDonald and sales executive David Allaway. The four joined G-III in May, coming from the Phillipe Monet/Mighty Mac division of USA Classics, after that company went out of business.
