STANLEY MARCUS SET TO OBSERVE 90TH BIRTHDAY
DALLAS — In honor of his 90th birthday, Stanley Marcus will lead the morning employee meeting at the Neiman Marcus flagship here on April 29.
While he was Neiman’s president from 1935 to 1950 and its chairman and chief executive officer from 1950 to 1972, Marcus led the morning meetings.
Marcus built Neiman’s into an upscale specialty powerhouse through merchandising flair and increased service levels.
Marcus also was chairman of Neiman’s executive committee from 1972 to 1975, when he retired from the store and founded Stanley Marcus Consultancy. He is chairman emeritus of Neiman Marcus.
Neiman’s was founded in 1907 by his father, Herbert Marcus Sr., his aunt Carrie Marcus Neiman and his uncle Al Neiman.
Marcus will be given a private birthday party the evening of April 28 at the flagship. Marcus will turn 90 on April 20.
