NEW YORK — Call it retro backlash — bridge designers are taking a thoroughly modern, sleek approach to fall. For starters, there’s plenty of black, in cool fabrics and fitted shapes. Quilted nylon shows up in unexpected ways at A Line Anne Klein, such as in a curvy jacket and zip-front jumper. Meanwhile, at Anne Klein II, shearling gets sleek in a form-fitting coat, and belted jackets and jumpers are cut spare and slim. And Andrea Jovine plays with polish, revving up a crisp white shirt with a tightly cinched, leather-look vest.
