NEW YORK — Services for Hubert J. Horan, 61, a New York textile executive, were held Monday in Old Lyme, Conn.
Horan died Thursday at his home in Lyme, Conn. The cause was cancer, according to his wife, Astrid Gray Schroeder de Farkas, his sole survivor.
Horan, who had over 40 years experience in the textile industry, was founder and president of the 19-year-old Harris-Horan Textile Associates Inc., based here.
He was also president and chief executive officer of Central Textiles Inc. of Central, S.C., a former division of Cannon Mills that Horan acquired in 1984. He also owned Central Marketing Inc., a textile industry selling agent.
Horan was a trustee of the Institute of Textile Technology of Charlottesville, Va., in 1985; chairman of the technical advisory committee of the American Apparel Manufacturers Association from 1988 to 1990, and director of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association in 1994.
