RETRO FESTA
Byline:
It seemed as if every famous face in Milan turned out for the opening of Krizia’s 40th anniversary retrospective last week, packing the spacious halls of the city’s Triennale exhibition center. From the fashion, financial and film worlds came such as Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Donatella Girombelli, Nicola Trussardi, Carla Fendi and directors Franco Zeffirelli and Lina Wertmuller to congratulate Mariuccia Mandelli and feast on risotto and champagne.
Francesco Rosi and his daughter Carolina (who styled Krizia’s fashion show earlier that day, complete with clips from old movies), were also on hand.
Singer Milva, actress Valentina Cortese and ballerina Carla Fracci walked through the exhibition, admiring not only the work of the design team, but the display itself. And the queen of Italy — Marella Agnelli — got a conducted tour from Mariuccia herself.
Oscar-winning costume designer Gabriella Pescucci and director Dante Ferretti, who hung the show, “captured the essence of the clothes even more than fashion journalists ever could,” said Milva.
