COHEN JOINS TODAY’S MAN AS EXEC VP
NEW YORK — Arnold P. Cohen, who stepped down as chairman and chief executive officer of London Fog Corp. in August after a stormy and controversial one-year reign, has joined Today’s Man as executive vice-president of merchandising and marketing.
Cohen, who was president of J. Crew before his time at London Fog, said the move puts him back into a part of the business where he is most comfortable, which is “dealing with consumer-related issues rather than the wholesale end.”
While at London Fog, Cohen was credited with spearheading what he called “a full-price everyday campaign,” with the firm’s signature label. The policy was part of an aggressive plan to revitalize the ailing outerwear and rainwear company’s business.
However, the policy was criticized by many merchants as too intimidating since it demanded that retailers not run any price promotions on the label until after Dec. 8. Many retailers argued that almost all outerwear promotions take place at or before Thanksgiving.
