MARCUS BROS. TAPS EX-LIDA EXECS
NEW YORK — Howard Hauptman, who for the past eight years was a vice president at Lida Inc., has rejoined Marcus Bros. Textiles Inc., a textile converter here, as president of its apparel fabrics division. It is a new post.
In addition, Carol Howcroft, another former Lida executive, has joined Marcus Bros. as design director, apparel fabrics. She replaces Carol Stone, who retired in 1993.
Hauptman is charged with overseeing the merchandising and marketing of Marcus’s domestically produced piece-dyed and printed apparel fabrics. Martin Marcus, chief executive officer of Marcus Bros., had been handling those duties.
Marcus also said that Hauptman was brought on board to expand the company’s import division, which imports yarn-dyed, flannel and printed apparel fabrics, along with novelty piece-dyed fabrics.
Prior to his stint at Lida, Hauptman was executive vice president of the Crantex Fabrics division of Cranston Print Works Co., and, from 1978 to 1982, was president of Marcus Bros.’ First Run Fabrics division.
For the past 10 years, Howcroft had been head stylist for Lida, and prior to that, was a designer for Liberty of London.
