DALLAS — It must have been a good omen that fog clung to the skyscrapers here the day Fog City Diner threw its opening party — the place has been packed ever since.
The first offspring of the original Fog City Diner in San Francisco has an edge: star power. Among its 30 investors is Troy Aikman, quarterback of the deliriously popular Dallas Cowboys. He has obligingly appeared at the spot a few times, posing for pics like a pol, with little girls and beaming women.
The $2 million diner has other critical assets, too, like its tasty, eclectic cuisine headlined by the best-selling crab cakes. The Dallas menu is identical to the original, but for one addition: a “great big primal beef cut,” reports Tom Mock, one of the primary investors. Says Mock, “This is Texas. This ain’t California.”
