SANOFI OPERATING NET DROPS 35% IN FRAGRANCE, BEAUTY AREAS IN ’94

PARIS — Sanofi said operating profits in 1994 of its fragrance and beauty products segment slumped 35 percent to $60.2 million (301 million francs) at current exchange rates.
Sales increased 18.5 percent to $895.5 million (4.5 billion francs). However, the company discontinued some of its smaller brands, and on a comparable basis, sales fell 8.2 percent.
Overall, Sanofi’s earnings rose 83 percent to $299.5 million (1.5 billion francs), while sales gained 11 percent to $5.2 billion (26.1 billion francs).
