NEW YORK — Cem M. Suvak, 41, president and an owner of Cem Imports & Designs Inc., an importer of women’s better-price handbags, died Tuesday in North Shore Hospital, Massapequa, N.Y.
The cause of death, according to a company spokeswoman, was leukemia.
Suvak and Nat Ross, vice president of the firm, formed Cem here five years ago.
Prior to that, Suvak had been head of the handbag division of Bellini Imports, a shoe and handbag importer. Before that, he was a buyer of footwear at J.C. Penney Co.
Surviving are Suvak’s parents, a daughter, a brother and a sister.
Private services will be held today in Brooklyn.
