FTL GETS OK TO ACQUIRE DANIEL YOUNG
WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission Monday said it has given Fruit of the Loom antitrust clearance to buy Daniel Young International Corp., Secaucus, N.J., manufacturer of Pro-Player team logo jackets, caps and other items.
A Fruit of the Loom spokeswoman declined to discuss the potential deal, other than to confirm that the two companies were talking. Officials of Daniel Young could not be reached for comment.
Young’s licenses include deals with the National Hockey League, National Basketball Association and National Football League.
In issuing its routine antitrust approval, the FTC found there would be no anticompetitive effects, should the deal go through.
