FRUIT OF THE LOOM NAMES RIBET AS ACTIVEWEAR CHIEF
CHICAGO — Arnold Ribet has been appointed president of the activewear business unit of Fruit of the Loom, a new post.
Ribet, who rejoined FTL in April as executive vice president of business development, will continue to report to William Farley, chairman and chief executive officer. A successor in Ribet’s former post will not be named, said a company spokesman.
Ribet joined FTL in 1950 as a sales representative, and held various executive posts until 1986. He had been executive vice president of sales and marketing at Oneita, a maker of blank T-shirts, for the past nine years.
Ribet will be responsible for business strategies, pricing and product development for the business unit, which includes the Fruit of the Loom, Best by Fruit of the Loom and Screen Stars activewear labels for men, women and children.
“Because of the success of the activewear unit throughout the years, we plan on expanding the sales and management team in the very near future,” said Ribet, noting that a vice president and a divisional sales manager will soon be named, as well as five regional sales representatives.
Farley noted that FTL “looks forward to continued growth from our activewear business, both in the U.S. and international markets.”
