RETAIL BIGGIES TAP ELECTRONIC ‘MALL’

NEW YORK — J.C. Penney, Spiegel and Marshall Field’s have joined ContentWear’s Shopping2000, an online electronic mall available on the Internet.
Penney’s and Spiegel are offering clothing, while Marshall Field’s is selling jewelry.
Shopping2000 was launched this month with four retailers/catalogers: Tower Records, Early Winters, Recreational Equipment Inc. and Artrock Gallery.
Judith Hitchcock, regional sales manager of ContentWear, said Shopping2000 contains the largest group of catalogers on the Internet, which is a worldwide computer network used by 10 million to 30 million people.
“We will get a lot of international clients,” Hitchcock said. “A woman in Tel Aviv has already ordered from Recreational Equipment Inc.”
