NEW YORK — November was a harsh month for many fashion and lifestyle magazines, with Harper’s Bazaar, Mademoiselle, Glamour and Town & Country particularly hard hit.
Glamour showed a 23.9 percent drop in ad pages; Mademoiselle was off 19.5 percent; Harper’s Bazaar reported an 18.8 percent decline, and Town & Country was off 17.3 percent, according to figures supplied by Media Industry Newsletter.
Strong performances for the month were turned in by W and Architectural Digest, showing gains of 60.8 percent and 10.8 percent, respectively. Allure, Mirabella and Self reported flat results.
Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair had a tough November, but not nearly as severe as some of their competition. Vogue’s ad pages were off 1.2 percent; Elle dropped 3.6 percent, and Vanity Fair showed a 6.4 percent decline for the month, according to MIN.
