ARMANI LICENSES REDWALL SPA FOR BAGS, SMALL LUGGAGE LINES
MILAN — Giorgio Armani has signed a license agreement with Redwall SpA of Bologna to produce and distribute bags and small leather luggage products for the Borgonuovo, Giorgio Armani Le Collezioni and Emporio Armani lines.
Redwall, which is owned and run by the Rossi family, will start producing the Armani bags with the fall/winter ’95-’96 collection, an Armani spokeswoman said. Under terms of the accord, first-year sales of the Armani collections were estimated at $3 million (5 billion lire).
The Borgonuovo and Le Collezioni lines will be distributed in Armani boutiques as well as Redwall’s 22 company-owned stores. The Emporio Armani bags will be distributed exclusively in Emporio boutiques.
The Armani bags were formerly produced by Naples-based Gap SpA, which continues to manufacture Armani footwear.
Redwall has a reputation in the market for making high-quality goods. In addition to its own brand-name collection, Redwall produces for Moschino and Romeo Gigli.
