MARION BEEFS UP: Marion Fabrics, a division of Texfi Industries which was nearly sold to Forstmann & Co. last summer, has named Daniel Sixsmith vice president, marketing.
Sixsmith succeeds Jack Threshie, who retired May 31. In the interim, the duties had been performed by R.J. Tisdale, president of Texfi’s gray goods division of which Marion is a part.
For the past year, Sixsmith had been sales manager of Marion’s home furnishings division. Previously, for eight years, Sixsmith held various sales and marketing posts with Milliken & Co., both in gray and finished fabric areas.
In July, Forstmann entered into an agreement to buy Marion for between $14 million and $15 million. Then, in mid-September, the deal fell through, as both firms cited “certain difficult conditions in the equity market.” Marion had 1993 sales of about $40 million; Texfi had sales of $311.2 million.
