NEW YORK — It’s time to tune up the olfactory senses. Extracts, the trade show for aromatherapy, fragrance and personal care, kicks off today at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The biannual show, which is celebrating its 11th edition, attracts more than 300 exhibitors from around the world and 3,000 attendees, which include buyers from Barneys New York, Bloomingdale’s and Henri Bendel.
This season’s show should be busting with new products since the fall edition of Extracts was canceled due to the tragic events of September 11. The show, scheduled to run last Oct. 12 through Oct. 15 was held off since the Javits Center had just been used as a staging area for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Some new products slated to make their debut at this season’s Extracts include Nikali’s Silk Souffle, a body moisturizer with an extremely life-like sugar cookie scent; AromaLand’s collection of eight lavender essential oils gathered from around the world, and In Fiore skin care products, a line billed as couture for the skin.
Extracts will run through Monday, April 15. Show hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. except Monday when the show closes at 4 p.m. Registration information can be attained by calling George Little Management at (914) 421-3200.
