HOLLYWOOD — Paris Hilton was a no-show, but that didn’t seem to bother the scantily clad quasi-celebs and their pals who came out in droves Thursday night for the Frederick’s of Hollywood lingerie rave.
Fellow bottle blonde, Kimberly Stewart, stepped in for Hilton, who, as reported, landed a minor film role which conflicted with her hosting duties for the Frederick’s event. Kimberly’s dad, Rod, didn’t make it either, but that didn’t faze the young rock fans in attendance. After all, they’re probably more familiar with Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis, who happened to find a new squeeze that night — a model named Lola.
By the time co-host Nicole Richie, Lionel’s little girl, swooped out to begin the runway segment — in a vintage-look, satin and lace corset and panties, fishnet stockings, marabou kitten heels and a red feather headpiece — the Hollywood Boulevard nightclub, Star Shoes, was already in lock-down by the county fire marshall due to overcrowding. Of course, exceptions can always be made, and Milla Jovovich and Melissa Rivers managed to slide right in.
The steamy runway display included plenty of lace bra and panty sets, “Moulin Rouge”-style corsets and Frederick’s latest invention, the “skong” — an ultra-mini lace skirt with attached satin thong. There was also sportswear: low-slung stretch cords, corseted camis, lace catsuits and body-hugging Lycra evening looks.
Those not trotting down the runway in Frederick’s signature slippers wore the La Rose vintage numbers carried by the Sixties-styled shoe store-themed bar, which served an endless stream of cocktails with names like “mary jane” and “ruby slipper.”
