POLO NAMES HEROES FUND RECIPIENTS
NEW YORK — Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. Monday revealed the recipients of its American Heroes Fund, which raised $4 million for various charities related to Sept. 11.
They include The Twin Towers Fund, The New York Police, Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, The September 11th Fund and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. In addition, Polo’s fund will be used to create American Heroes Fund Scholarships that will provide educational assistance to children of those who died or were permanently disabled as a result of the attacks.
The American Heroes Fund of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation raised money from the company’s employees as well as its customers and business partners.
The American Heroes program will operate for 20 years, to help even the youngest children of victims. Funds will be available to needy high school seniors, and graduates enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. The scholarship will be administered through the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America as part of the Sept. 11 Scholarship Alliance.
