NEW YORK — Cotton has always been the obvious choice for spring, but there’s nothing ordinary about the fabrics that mills are presenting for spring 2003. The fiber was everywhere at this season’s Premiere Vision, showing up in 100 percent qualities or blended with linen, rayon or silk, among others. Finish, meanwhile, brought the fiber either a soft, crinkly and worn-in look or a crisp, chintz-like one. And while many of the colors ran in both the soft pastel and neutral range, some mills are adding touches of bright, rich tones to liven up their offerings.
