JUST PROMOTED AT KMART TO SENIOR VP AND GMM
NEW YORK — Kmart Corp. on Monday promoted Nick Just to senior vice president and general merchandise manager of apparel and jewelry, assuming some of the responsibilities previously held by Lorna Nagler, who left last week to become president of the Catherines large-sizes division of Charming Shoppes.
Just, a 20-year veteran with Kmart, was vice president of women’s wear, fashion accessories and jewelry. He has served in the sales department, became a buyer in home fashions, and eventually rose to divisional vice president where he played a key part in launching Martha Stewart Everyday.
In 2000, he moved to men’s as divisional vice president and in 2001, moved into his last slot.
For the past week, there has been speculation that Roger Goddu, former chairman and chief executive of the defunct Montgomery Ward, is in the running for a new top merchant’s job at Kmart that could carry the title of vice chairman of merchandising. Kmart had no information on that front Monday.
