ALL THAT JAZZ
“What do I have to do to get near Jazzy?” demanded Christina Ricci coyly as she surveyed the mob scene surrounding photographer Paul Jasmin, who hastily scrawled messages into copies of his new book, “Hollywood Cowboy” (Arena Editions). “I’m going to have to crawl under the table and come up on his knees just to give him a kiss.”
Despite the chilly winds, friends and fans of Jasmin, including Cameron Diaz, Daryl Hannah and Jacqui Getty, all filed into the patio and gallery of Les Deux Cafes to celebrate his first tome.
Rising from her spot at a picnic table between her husband, Spike Jonze, and Zoe Cassavetes for another glass of her family’s wine, co-host Sofia Coppola gushed over her “adopted godfather,” who included three images of his former student in the book — including two topless shots.
“This is so nice because we never had a night that’s all about Jazz,” continued Coppola, from the depths of a Marc Jacobs’ Sgt. Pepper-style coat. “He’s just funny and mean in a great way.”
The previous night, Monet Mazur threw her 27th-birthday bash at Belly, and over at the Lounge in West Hollywood, Donovan Leitch and Kirsty Hume hosted a cocktail party for Vogue and Hublot. Leitch enthusiastically demonstrated his vanilla-scented Hublot watch. “It’s conveniently scented just in case you get really stressed and get caught without your aromatherapy,” he said.
“I find mine totally relaxing,” vouched Hume.
Later on, Thora Birch, Jeremy Scott and Rashida Jones headed from the Lounge to the Palladium for a Moroccan-style roller-disco party hosted by Skechers.
“Drinking and skating definitely do not mix,” declared Dominique Swain as she sipped a soda from the kilim-covered island in the middle of the rink. “I’ve already fallen three times.”
