RAISED VOICES: Mothers’ Voices celebrated its 10th anniversary with a breakfast benefit last month, raising $375,000 for the organization, which fights to end AIDS and to promote sexual health through advocacy and education.
Chaired by Sheryl Schwartz, wife of Calvin Klein Inc. vice chairman Barry Schwartz, Mothers’ Voices has had longstanding support from the fashion industry, with Iman acting as its honorary spokeswoman. This year’s event, with actress Lorraine Bracco as emcee, honored Martin Markowitz, clinical director of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, and Vincent McGee, vice president of the Irene Diamond Fund.
DESIGNERS WANTED: Gen Art is launching its fourth annual young designer competition this month and calling for submissions by May 8. The Gen Art/Nokia Styles 2002 competition is slated for June 5 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan and is offering prizes that total $30,000. Further information is available at genart.com.
