THOMAS J. O’GORMAN, 67, GLENOIT’S PRESIDENT, CEO
NEW YORK — Thomas J. O’Gorman, president and chief executive officer of knitter Glenoit Corp., died from a heart-related incident on Sunday at the New York Presbyterian Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 67.
The company has not yet decided who will succeed him.
O’Gorman spent the last 10 years at Glenoit. Prior to that, he worked for other textile firms such as Greenwood Mills Inc., Milliken & Co. and Burlington Industries Inc.
A colleague, Kevin Kennedy, president and chief operating officer of the consumer products division at New York-based Glenoit, said O’Gorman “was warm and compassionate and was a fantastic manager.”
O’Gorman is survived by wife Maureen and three children, Lynn Latchford, Katherine Mjelde and Michael O’Gorman.
Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Church at 869 Lexington Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. today. A second service will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in Blackville, S.C., on Friday at 11 a.m.
