NEW YORK — Ripped and torn denim is back, and the East Village is the perfect setting for the casually dishevelled look it represents. New York artist Daria Deshuk, who painted the scene here from a WWD photo, managed to capture both the vitality of the city streets, and the laid-back vibe of the latest trend in denim for spring. “As an artist, I am a voyeur, stealing selectively from my immediate environment,” she says.
