INTIMATE NOTES

SUCCESSFUL FIT: Wacoal America’s Fit for the Cure promotion to help breast cancer awareness was a hit at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship.
Bob Vitale, vice president of sales at Wacoal, said: “We had a 76 percent increase for the five days over a year ago and we did about $80,000 in retail sales. It was very successful considering there was a snowstorm Thursday and Friday. It looks like we’re off to a fabulous start.” Vitale said two Saks employees who wore pink pins and distributed Wacoal postcards, as well as educational materials on detecting breast cancer, “really helped the campaign.”
As reported, Wacoal will stage more than 100 Fit for the Cure events this spring to help women across the country find the perfect-fitting bra. The in-store events will take place at key Saks units, as well as other major department and specialty stores, and feature bras by Wacoal as well as the licensed Donna Karan Intimates and DKNY Underwear labels.
Both Wacoal and Saks each donated $1 for each fitting to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. No purchase was necessary. The Fit for the Cure trademark is owned by the Komen foundation.
